It gives me great pleasure to work with Kurious Jorge. I remember his album "Constipated Monkey" became my soundtrack to my early years in High School. It was all day just listening in the train on the way to school and on the way going home.
The way this project came to be was that I had met his engineer, Dave Dar, in my Rawkus days back in 2001.
Rawkus would always send me to artists recording sessions to document their sessions. Occasionally, artist are notorious for being late for sessions so that gave me time to chit-chat with the engineer or who ever was in the studio at that time.
The Cutting Room studios was right next door to the Rawkus offices. Many albums and songs were recorded there. My job was to simply document the session and make sure I don't miss anything.
Well, back to the story, I ran into Dave Dar's myspace page after 8 yrs on no type of communication. I reached out to him and told him I made music videos and if he knew someone that would need such services. It just so happens that he was working with Kurious Jorge for his upcoming album and the rest is history. I had the call on Jan of 2009 and shot it on Valentines Day, Feb 14th 2009.
Thanks to Kadi, (Jorge's right hand man), we rented certain essentials that would make the production with a little more value. We rented an Arri 2k light, steadycam, car mount, wide angle lense, and a genie. I also forgot the small light panels for the car shots.
I worked with David Salebe as DP, a great up and coming Director.
We started to shoot at around Noon all the way until 430am. And continue at 10am the same day.
Again, no storyboards, no permits, just hitting up different locations and shooting it. Well, i hope you guys like this video.
